Default Divorce:

The divorce process begins when a plaintiff spouse files a petition for divorce with the court.  A default divorce occurs when the defendant spouse does not file an answer (or appear at any court hearings) to the complaint or petition for divorce.  A hearing may still occur to finalize the decisions relating to divorce such as support, custody, asset and liability division and maintenance payments.
