What is Divorce?

Divorce is often referred to as the dissolution of marriage.  Certain steps must be taken to obtain a legal judgment that dissolves or severs marriage.  A divorce has legal requirements that must be met such as legal grounds, jurisdictional requirements, residency and waiting periods.  In addition, a divorce may require property division, maintenance payments, arrangements for child custody and child support, among other things.  Once a marriage has been severed, both parties are returned to the status of a single individual.  Once legally divorced, parties are free to remarry.  However, some states may require a waiting period prior to remarrying.

Each state has their own rules and guidelines about divorce and annulments.  We at Prime Divorce have put together a network of lawyers that are experienced in dealing with divorce and family law issues.  Take a minute to complete the free case review or call 1-800-550-8047 to speak directly with an attorney in your area.
